Rethinking the Bobbing Wide API plugin name

As I’ve been developing my new bwapi plugin I’ve become more aware of the potential benefits of the automatic distribution of the latest version of the plugin to my WordPress sites. So I was just about to formalise the 3 (or 4) different plugins I’ve already developed when I thought I’d read up about the proper way to create a plugin. Hmm. Looks like I’ve failed at the first hurdle… choose a unique name. bwapi (which has been pronounced bee-wappy by someone who doesn’t do techno-babble) has already been taken. It stands for Broodwar Application Programming Interface: a free and open source C++ framework for creating AI modules for Starcraft: Broodwar. So I thought about the following:
  • bwherb – Google suggested bwhebb
  • bwhebb – turns out to be Hebrew Font
  • .bw – dot bw is the internet country code for Botswana
  • bwrc – British Wildlife Rescue Centre and other variations.
It looks like I’ll have trouble with abbreviations. How about Caravan songs? bobbing wide seems to be favourite if a bit long. I think I’ll plump for oik. Here goes… how many places do I have to make changes I wonder. Good thing these CMS’s come with search functions.
