Can we do eCommerce with WordPress?

Bobbing Wide took a look at a few WordPress ecommerce plugins. Our vote went to wpstorecart. A lot of my customers would like to start simply – with a [WOW] website – and then add online buying at a later stage. Well, that’s simple if you just have a couple of products. You can use my PayPal buttons to achieve a very simple shopping cart. OR you can use another external shopping cart solution such as Mal’s e-commerce (used on the www.pathofbeing.com website) But what if you want a full eCommerce solution integrated into your WordPress site? Is there a WordPress plugin that’s as powerful and flexible as Ubercart for Drupal. We made a short list of FREE WordPress plugins and investigated them. For our findings click on the dot dot dot links in the table below. If the link gives you a 404 we haven’t written anything up yet. Of the two we’ve actually looked at, installed, configured and used wpStoreCart was the one we preferred. We would use this in an extension to a [WOW] website and blog. For a more complete eCommerce solution we would still favour using Drupal and Ubercart… as implemented on www.Bobbing Wide.com
