How to create an image link to your blog on WordPress.com

Do you have a WordPress website and a separate WordPress blog? Do you want to create an image link from the website to the blog? Here’s how. Let’s assume my website is www.loneworking.co.uk and my blog is at pdealtry.wordpress.com and the image I want in the link is Visit Patrick Dealtry's Lone Working blog
  1. Login to the website
  2. Create a new draft post
    • upload the image you want to use for your link
    • add the alternate text. e.g. Visit Patrick Dealtry’s Lone Working blog
    • paste the blog URL into the link URL
    • choose an alignment of none
    • insert it into the post
    • Like this… Add Media with Link URL set to an external URL
  3. Switch to HTML view, select and copy the text into the clipboard
  4. You don’t need to save the post
  5. Now choose Appearance > Widgets
  6. Drag a Text widget to the sidebar or widget area of your choice
  7. Paste the text into the text area of the widget. Leave the title blank. Save
The text you paste should look a bit like this <a href="http://pdealtry.wordpress.com/"><img title="lone-working-logo-no-text" src="http://www.bobbingwidewebdesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/lone-working-logo-no-text.jpg" alt="" width="77" height="57" /></a> Note: the source of the image will not be the same as in this example. And you may want to adjust the size of the image to match your current blog links. This is just one of the MANY ways of adding the link as an image. Does it work for you?
