For the WoW websites I have been developing a WordPress plugin called bwapi, where bw is the abbreviation of Bobbing Wide and API stands for Application Programming Interface. Whilst the plugin name is pure techno-babble, what the plugin does is NOT.
While preparing my short presentation on the bob, bing and wide tests ( see bob or fob, wide or hide, bing or bong ) Twitter incurred two bongs.
Last Friday I gave a short (10 minute), interactive presentation to members of my networking group (Your Network South, organised by Ron Hodgson).
The subject of the presentation was “criteria for a good website”.
- Write it in your WordPress page until it looks OK.
- Then paste it into your Facebook fbml page.
This it the first subpage under [EPL] Simplest implementation.
Note: I’m using capital EPL to prevent the shortcode from being expanded.
It’s easier than using &91; and &93;
For one of my customers I feel the need to try the WordPress extended page list plugin.
The blurb says:
- Full control of the HTML tags used to display the page list
- Include the page content or excerpt when listing the pages.
- Display subpages or full page hierarchy.
- Better sidebar widget for site navigation.
- Supports post thumbnails for content / excerpts.
What I want is
The page has a set of subpages. Rather than writing my own headings, excerpts and links in the page, I want it to write these in the subpages and simply refer to them from the higher level page.
I’ll do it first, then show you what I mean.
[EPL] simplest implementation
Earlier today (11th or 12th Jan) my Slideshow Gallery Pro page stopped working. It started displaying a rotating circle and never populated the slideshow.
I tried a bit of problem determination on a local site – and got a different problem – thumbnails not appearing. So then I tried updating SexyBookmarks – since it told me it had a new version. Now that’s gone wrong too.
And the fix was…
After installing the upgrade – from 3.2.9 to 3.2.9 – I went to the SexyBookmarks settings, changed nothing and chose Save changes. Fixed magically But Slideshow Gallery Pro is still a problem.
OK, so I’ve demonstrated the 3 step approach to blogging to Twitter and Facebook from a WordPress blog. Now how about the two step.
Set the Feed URL on RSS Graffiti to your blog’s feed.
Write your post (and Tweet)
- Write your post and publish – this should feed your Facebook page
- Tweet as before using the Twitter publisher Tweet button.
A while ago ( December 14th) I wanted to share some work that I had been doing on a new website to my Facebook business page.
But when I clicked on the share this link, I found that I could only share it with my personal Facebook page.
I wrote to the support team at Share this and they said… that the Facebook API does not support this.
So that’s a bit of a shame… however
There are many ways to login to your WordPress site as an Administrator. Here are a few.
Now that it’s 2011 you might want to revisit your website’s copyright statement.

This post lists a couple of the options for changing a WordPress site.
In my previous post on setting up Simple Twitter Connect (STC) I got an error message
ERROR: Twitter user not recognized
So far, I’ve been unable to overcome this problem. But I have done some poking about on forums and my investigation.
I’ve now managed to get a 406 Not acceptable message. I don’t yet know why but thought I’d document it anyway.
