In March 2012, I developed a couple of presentations for WordUp Pompey and WordUp Brighton on the subject of Galleries and Slideshows and Lazy smart shortcodes. As I did so I learnt of the jQuery Nivo slider. I briefly looked at a number of existing WordPress Nivo slider plugins. None of them seemed to satisfy my particular need of being able to direct the user to a post, page or other custom content type. So I developed my own – the oik-nivo-slider, which is dependent upon the oik plugin.
Plugin name and description | Plugin links | Version, total downloads, last update, tested |
---|---|---|
oik-nivo-slider jQuery Nivo slider | oik-nivo-slider | 1.16.1 March 15, 2021 5.7 |
oik lazy smart shortcodes for your WordPress website | oik | 4.1.3 March 15, 2021 5.7 |
At its simplest you just upload images to your post, or page then use the [nivo] shortcode to display the slider. Add the link=n parameter to prevent the user from clicking on a link.
But a more complex implementation enables the user to choose where to go from the slideshow.
Clicking on a link will take you to one of these pages.
